San Diego Wildfires

Just to let everyone know that I'm currently safe and have not evacuated. My area is currently in a voluntary status--a police car came through a little while ago--but I just heard on the news that the fire we would be concerned about (of the 8 currently going in San Diego County) has been contained, and the residents closer to that area, where my ex-wife's house is, have had their evacuation lifted. So for now we're okay. I've got clothes, a cooler of water bottles, valuable papers and my camera all packed and ready to go. All I would need to do is grab my cat and her stuff and be out of here.

Today has been strange, as one might imagine. Yellow, smoky air, long gas station lines, sporadic power outages. This will probably be worse than the 2003 fires as they're more spread out and the Santa Ana winds are worse. The winds are keeping the fixed wing helicopters on the ground so they can't help with dropping water.

Anyway, back to the news.
