Father's Day

A good way to keep yourself on point and brief when blogging is to have to pee, or as one of my friends calls it, take a slash. My dad once paid me $20 to tell a waitress I needed to "bleed the brontosaurus," so now you can see where I get my maturity.

Nice Father's Day. Talked to my stepdad but didn't reach my dad, which I'll do tomorrow. I worked out really hard Saturday night so I figured I could treat myself a bit today. Had some sashimi and hefeweizen at lunch, and nibbled a bit on the kids' nachos, chicken tenders, and fries. Showed my son how to play pool.

Went swimming at the pool at my old apartment. It's always been pretty much the same deal: one or two hot, too-young girls laying out and me trying not to ogle them too badly, and the kids throwing a fit when it's time to leave. But it was good. Grilled steak for my son and me and made my daughter some buttered noodles with some fresh parmesan and we watched Stuart Little on TV. I need to do some work now but really would rather be going to bed. Oh, I read the first volume of Kazuo Umezu's Scary Book, and wasn't that impressed. I liked the shorter samurai story, though it's not as good as most Koike/Gojima stuff in that vein, but the longer story about the girl's mirror reflection envying her life and coming through the mirror to try to take it really dragged. It was pretty good for a while--not scary but interesting--but once things start to turn back to the girl's favor it takes another 30 pages or something to wrap up and by that time you're really bored.
