Lamein'
One thing I just did that I hope to do very few times in my lifetime is clean off the outside of my washing machine. Something about that just seems wrong to me.
The girl at work I was emailing and went to lunch with? Well I did take her out last night after work for a couple drinks. It was actually one of the most awkward dates I've ever had. Not terrible, really, but either she's shy or just not into me. I know she finds me reasonably funny and I must have charmed her somewhat for her to agree to lunch and then this, but it was weird. At one point, after asking her a lot about herself, I had to ask, "so, was there anything you wanted to know about me?" and she didn't have anything! Ouch. Today the emails were almost nonexistent, a marked contrast to before. In the afternoon I finally sent her one, as I didn't want to be mean or play any games, basically asking how her day was going and saying I was really busy, and she replied that she was busy, too, and there may have been one or two more after that, but no calls or texts tonight or anything like that. I guess I'll just kind of let her let me know if she wants to continue anything.
Um, what else? Idol is proceeding as it should as far as the voting. Lots of filler now, though.
I just noticed Marvel Toys is putting out a series of action figures called Legendary Heroes that seems to mainly be Image and Dark Horse characters like Witchblade, The Darkness, Savage Dragon, Marv, Madman, O'Brien (didn't see a Monkeyman yet, but I'm sure there must be), Judge Dredd, Judge Death, The Star (don't know who this is--looks kind of like Spider-Man), SuperPatriot, Ripclaw. About $9.99, look like pretty good sculpts though the images I saw were small. Not out until October.
I had lunch at Submarina, a CA-based sub sandwich chain that's on the whole better than Subway, and the 50ish lady in front of me ordered the new pulled pork sandwich like this. "Ooh, pulled pork! Is the pulled pork good? Is it good pulled pork?" Lady, this isn't a barbecue pit. These guys know how to slice meats. This pulled pork isn't roasting all day. It's sitting in an aluminum container until you order it, at which point they microwave it. What do you think?
Noticed an odd name for a nursery yesterday, Plantenders. I guess they're combining Plant with Tenders--they tend to plants and sell them to you--but doesn't it just look like they're bringing an end to these plants? Was Planterminators taken? This made me come up with other bad names like Soupenitentiary.
Oh, last but certainly not least. Last Saturday I got to see your friend and mine, Marc Mason, who was in San Diego for a Library Sciences conference. I had my kids and we met for pizza at a surprisingly good little place by the beach, not far from his hotel. Kids were good, watched a little baseball and talked. Even though they were good, of course it's a little distracting, so it wasn't quite the visit it could've been, but still pretty fun.
Haven't seen Spidey 3. I will, but just haven't had the time. Maybe this Saturday.
