So I haven't belonged to a gym in a couple years. When I lived in my apartment, up until eight months ago, I used their small but adequate gym, but when I moved I purposely held onto the gym key and paid the $50 to replace it, so I can basically use their gym indefinitely. I was pushing it tonight, being there until 10:00, which is about when the security guard comes by and locks up the room and the gates to the pool. I was on the bike when he came by and asked if I had seen any non-residents in here. I didn't think he was trying to trap me, but was curious what this was all about. He said he'd gotten a call that some non-residents were at the pool but had apparently left. I said I didn't see anyone, but was smart enough to know that details really can help a lie. Well, the lie wasn't that I hadn't seen any non-residents, except if I considered myself. The key is to stick to reality as much as you can. In this case, I truthfully said that there was a girl working out when I got there, but she seemed to be a resident, and then later a teenaged boy (and I emphasized TEENAGED because it immediately made the kid a suspect, whether he was or not) asked me if I knew the final score of the Spurs/Jazz game. I told the guard I hadn't seen the kid before, which was true, but I hardly know anyone there anymore. Anyway, I think this all falls under victimless crime. I'm just proud of myself for getting there two days in a row, especially as my kids will be with me the next couple nights.
