I just received an order of books, and there's a lot of reading there, not that I didn't already have a big pile to go through. I have to admit, in the past four months I've been in this condo, I've shelled out some good coin for some nice items. Like, I spent a pretty penny to get the Absolute League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Vol. 1, which I failed to get the first time. I also finally got the Little Nemo: So Many Splendid Sundays book, which is so large it hangs over the edge of the TOP of my bookcase. I have that second Absolute LOEG, btw, as I was smart enough to preorder that one far under cover price. I've got all the Peanuts, Dennis, Walt & Skeezix--I guess I just don't have Dick Tracy yet. Just received In The Studio and read a chunk of that last night--it's a wonderful look at the working practices and influences of Chris Ware, Seth, Daniel Clowes, R. Crumb, Ivan Brunetti, Jaime Hernandez and, oh, I'm probably forgetting a couple of other greats. Beautifully done.
Started getting the recent reissued EC volumes, starting with Shock SuspenStories and Weird Science. I ordered Two-Fisted Tales but it's on back order or something. I even found that Neal Adams Deadman slipcase for much cheaper than the $75 cover. On the cheaper end, I do pick up plenty of trades, including some DC Showcase stuff like Brave and the Bold (Batman Team-Ups), Challengers of the Unknown, and The Phantom Stranger. With those, I'm not necessarily aiming to read the whole books but kinda flipping through and reading what grabs me, and having the wonderful art on hand to gander at.
