Running down the weekend so far:

Friday I picked up my kids and my son said he felt sick. I picked up some drive-thru, though I was going to make him a PB&J. While I was trying to get some medicine and water down him, he threw up pizza and Slurpee from lunch all over the couch and floor. The couch is fine now but I still have some work to do on the carpet. I may need to rent a steamer or something. Yuck.

Watched The Departed, finally, which I purchased. It really is great, and totally gripping. I didn't pause it or leave my seat at all. I'm not going to go into a lot of detail about it, but what a rarity to have two great male lead performances in one movie--doesn't happen much. And Scorsese had a good script to work with here, with a tighter plot than he usually has in his films (the plot isn't his focus, and that's fine, but it's nice that everything clicked together here). Decent female lead role for Vera Farmiga. I wouldn't call it a great character, but a good one. Scorsese's music sense kind of fails here in spots, or at least I felt using songs like "Gimme Shelter" was just too Scorsese for Scorsese, ya know? I did like the way he shot the action scenes, which felt fresh and not like he was following old patterns. Nicholson does his best work in years, and the entire supporting cast is good. You felt like you could've followed Baldwin, Sheen, Wahlberg or Winstone into their own little movies and been happy. The 2 disc dvd has some deleted scenes with Scorsese introductions, which is rare (haven't watched any of the bonus stuff yet) as well as some documentaries on the real-life Boston Irish mafia and the TCM doc, Scorsese on Scorsese, which I think I've seen but it's nice to have that on dvd.

Downloaded the Larry Clark film, Ken Park, and have watched half an hour of it, but I'm tired of sitting at my computer so I'll stop for the night. It's really interesting in that slice-of-disturbed-life style of Kids.
