I think I may have written about this show last week, about how with its major flaws I saw no need to watch it again. Well, I did, though in my small defense I was also writing while it was on. The problem is that most of the actors, especially Sandra Oh, are talented, and the cases are pretty interesting, but the writers are too concerned with solving all the doctors' personal problems in the same episode with the perfect medical solution. Oh's pregnant and doesn't want to be, so of course she's matched with a 47 year old pregnant woman faced with aborting her fetus to fight her breast cancer, or carrying the baby to term to likely die when the child is still young. The shlub O'Malley botches a procedure and needs to get laid, so naturally he gets a second chance at the same procedure right in front of the nurse he wants to impress and ask out. The really hot blonde girl who should really be the star of the show instead of the un-spunky, collagen-bloated lipped Ellen Pompeo, has no faith and has lost her connection to her mother, so of course she treats a guy who's psychic and always knows just what to say to her to push her buttons and push her toward calling Mom. And Pompeo's character, Blahblah Grey, really wants Dr. Patrick Dempsey, whom she's been fucking every goddamn night for weeks, to open up about his favorite ice cream, favorite god, whether he's got a house, been married, etc. Basically, he must've just hit on her while they were scrubbing in (Scrub THIS, babe!) and then they were off and humping. In her defense, he does look like Patrick Dempsey, and he IS a doctor, but still...So, once she backs him into the corner of being a conversant human being (tough corner), he acquiesces, showing her all his land and the Airstream trailer in which he lives. So he's quirky but rich, irresistible. Goddamned show.
Up to about 15 reviews for the new column--probably finish with about 18, a lot of them floppies or minicomics. There's also a dvd and a review of something you can put in your mouth, but I don't want to ruin the surprise.
