Zzzz...

Just woke up from having fallen asleep with my daughter for an hour-and-a-half, so I'll just post this, read a couple comics (HUMAN TARGET #20 and Morrison's GUARDIAN #1), and go to sleep. Got little sleep last night, anyway. Went to the Apple store yesterday, which is a cool, well-designed place, but they weren't actually able to fix my iPod. They restored it, but told me I needed to download the current iPod updater to reformat the iPod to Windows, and when I tried that at home, I got stuck in this annoying loop like before: 1) plug in iPod, get told I need to reformat to PC use; 2) do that and then am told I already have current updater installed, so I'm stuck and still not actually reformatted. My iPod has no operating system, so it's useless now. I'll try the store again next week and try to get them to go through the whole steps rather than just the Apple part, but hey, it's an Apple store, so they may not. If not, guess I'll have to find somewhere to send it to or something.

I've read the new Previews and may have some comments on that this weekend. I think the Fantastic Four Omnibus HC of 1-30 and Annual 1, oversized, is probably worth the $100 when you really think about it. That's what really jumped out at me, though there are some other cool books to talk about as well.

Okay, so Sean T. Collins starts this meme and ropes in ADD, who then ropes me in, among others. Here it is, and remember, I'm half-asleep right now:

You're stuck inside Fahrenheit 451, which book do you want to be?

Like ADD, I don't really understand the question, though I've read the book. I guess it's asking what my favorite is? Or maybe it's a really terrible book that OUGHT to be burned? Let's go with that. I'm against burning any books, really, but let's say all those LEFT BEHIND (Later Days, JEWS!!) books. The mere fact that those two guys have been able to pump out that much verbiage in such a short time must mean it's absolute redundant drivel, anyway.

Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?

Hmm. I don't think so, as I probably haven't read that much with female protagonists, actually. Let's go with Patrick Bateman in AMERICAN PSYCHO--I just wanted to hug him all better.

The last book you bought is:

Non-comics: Paul Auster's ORACLE NIGHT; the grammar book EATS, SHOOTS & LEAVES, and a Betty Crocker crockpot cookbook, still untested, though I bought a pot roast earlier this week. These were all bought at the same time for the Quality Paperback Book Club. Oh, and David Sedaris' ME TALK PRETTY ONE DAY and DRESS YOUR FAMILY IN CORDUROY AND PLAID, which I've loaned to two different women now without reading yet.

The last book you read:

I mostly finished EATS ,SHOOTS & SNORES or whatever. It's not as useful or interesting as I hoped. I've read I NEVER LIKED YOU; IT'S A GOOD LIFE, IF YOU DON'T WEAKEN and MINISTRY OF SPACE in the past couple weeks as well.

What are you currently reading?

KRAMER'S ERGOT 5, THE BEST AMERICAN NON-REQUIRED READING 2005(? the one with the Tomine cover); LOCAS.

Five books you would take to a deserted island:

A guide to surving on a deserted island, surely. After that, David Thomson's BIOGRAPHICAL DICTIONARY OF FILM, Salinger's THE CATCHER IN THE RYE, Fitzgerald's THE GREAT GATSBY, James Thompson's THE KILLER INSIDE ME and NATIONAL LAMPOON'S ANOTHER DIRTY BOOK (out-of-print).

Who are you going to pass this stick to (3 persons) and why?

Eh, I can't think of three people who haven't already been contacted who would have a public forum for sharing the answers, but I'll call out Marc Mason at http://comicswait.blogspot.com. First of all, the guy is literate, from all accounts, and I don't just mean the basement full of pristine copies of SWANK and OUI from the 70s. The whole "pass on to three people thing smacks of a chain email, anyway--it should always just be a suggestion.
