It's About Girls and Bumpernuts

Helped a friend tear out his closet for new custom closet organizers to be installed later this week. It's fun working with a hammer and crowbar, even though I put a couple holes in the very thin drywall. Thank you, spackle. I'll be housesitting for them in a couple weeks, too, so that might be kind of fun.

Caught up on THE WALKING DEAD. Really great comic. I feel a little bad for Charlie Adlard reading so many letters complaining that he isn't as good an artist for the book as Tony Moore. It's true his work isn't as cool, but he's a really good storyteller and is doing just as good a job with that and with character designs. Small complaint: sometimes the facial expressions don't jibe well with the story. Just a couple of occasions, really. Love the book, though. I also finally read the first Morrison DOOM PATROL arc, "Crawling from the Wreckage", and will comment more as I read more issues.

Saved a diskful of Final Draft scripts from my ex's hard drive when I was over there today, so now that I have the latest FD on my laptop, I can revisit some of this stuff. Not right away, obviously, as I have a lot of my plate as it is.

Finished PROJECT: SUPERIOR. True, the best stuff is in the first half, but it's still a good book.

Oh, right, the title of this post. It's About Girls is a nice webcomic ADD sent me the link to: http://www.thepersonunderthestairs.com/~billomite/iagchpt1.html. Good relationship drama stuff, sort of SCOTT PILGRIM without the wackiness. Thing is, though, the side-scrolling format is really effective, and then the creator abandons it for more traditional page layouts, and he also changes his art style, or at least the pen he uses, and it's a change for the worse, without question. I'm still interested, though, so hopefully things get back on track.

www.bumpernuts.com/index.html is where you can find the most egregious, offensive auto accessory ever. Damn, it's awful.

"It's About Girls and Bumpernuts" may be my favourite Chris Allen title of all time, and that's saying something.

Hey, I followed the referrer back here..

I switched to the traditional format because I kept encountering this irrational hostility towards "infinite canvas" comics. I had to chose between having the story appeal to as many folks as I could, or keep trying to up my rep with the arty folks, so I chose the former.

Unfortuately, the bigger image sizes went a long way to exposing my weaknesses as an artist, which you rightly picked up on. This just means I'll have to adapt to the new format.

Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you liked the comic.
