Work Journal 2/4/05

Not exactly writing tonight, but I more tightly plotted Superunknown #2, breaking it down page by page. I ended up changing the plot and sequencing significantly, and even came up with what I thought was a pretty good idea for a future storyline that I can start planting the seeds for in this very issue. So, fairly productive. I watched half of The Fellowship of the Ring with Trevor, who'd never seen it. I suppose it's a bit intense for a five-year-old, but he seemed fine. We'll see if he has any nightmares. One odd thing: I could've sworn the first time I saw the movie, and the second, that there was a CGI bit where Bilbo turns monstrous and Gollumlike in his face for a second when someone tries to take the ring away. I didn't see it this time.

Stopped by the comic shop on my way home. There was a $1 sale on all old back issues and Prestige Format books, but I only picked up a couple: a Paul Jenkins/Ashley Wood Spawn one-shot, mainly for Wood, and the other one escapes me, perhaps Waterloo Sunset #3? I bought the other two at a discount many months ago and have never read them, but I figure, in for a penny, in for a few more pennies. But for some reason I think maybe I passed on this and got something else...Anyway, I also picked up the Grimjack tpb and #1 of the new limited series. I like Tim Truman and some Ostrander but never read this before, so I hope it holds up. I think this weekend will be a little too busy to get much reading in, though, and I do want to finish up the Superunknown plotting and write a couple pages at least. I also got Superman: Strength #2, New Avengers #3, The Question #4, Intimates #4 and the Small Gods tpb. The last was only $9.95, and I'd heard/read good things. Besides, I feel like I'll be in the same position as these guys soon, hoping people will give my book a shot, so I might as well buy a little good karma.
