Super Boil

Had a pretty good time at some friends' today with the kids. Watched the game, ate steak and shrimp and snacks, had a few beers and a glass of wine. There were maybe two good Super Bowl commercials, the frozen guy in the Mustang, and the Bud Light skydiving one. People, often women, talk about the commercials as being their favorite part, but I can't remember the last Super Bowl that had more than two or three good ones.

Felt really lost and lonely on the drive home and once I dropped off the kids and got back here. A bad episode, and though I'm unhappy to not be getting work done, I think it's best to just relax, read a little, and get some good sleep and tackle things fresh tomorrow.

Saw SIDEWAYS last night and enjoyed it quite a bit. Having Paul Giamatti as a San Diego-based failed writer trying to get over a divorce threw me a bit, but it had some good laughs and pretty well-written and definitely well-acted scenes. I don't remember which blogger noted that it was another film where unlikeable shlubs get women they don't deserve, but I can't disagree too much there. However, I have to say, coming from the place I'm at, I didn't mind at all. I will say, though, that while I think Giamatti deserved a Best Actor nom, Thomas Haden Church did not, though he did very well with a very shallow character. It's also not deserving of a Best Picture nomination, I don't think, but then I didn't see that many great films this year, anyway.

My fingers smell like shrimp. Hope that will go away soon.
