As Expected, Complete, Up-to-the-Minute Grammy Coverage + Post-Show Analysis

I guess the Grammy's were on tonight, but fuck that. Watching them to find out what good music is is like waiting for Doritos to make the flavor before you'll eat it. "Oh, I've never had pepperjack cheese, maybe it's good! Salsa...VERDE? Like, salsa that's green?! Unheard of! Well, Doritos seems to know what they're doing. I remember when they came out with Taco in 1975, and after that I couldn't get enough of those spicy meat-filled sandwiches with the bread made out of fried, ground corn!

Sorry, I just got done watching COMEDIAN, the documentary about Jerry Seinfeld putting together a new act, contrasting with the young and annoying Orny Adams, whose insecurity and ego probably dealt a big blow to his career, actually. He had talent, though. Anyway, I guess it put me in a jokey mood right before bed. I just bought this dvd for $9.99, along with FARGO for the same price, and THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY for a mere $6.99, which really is a steal for one of the finest homoerotic murder stories around. I bet you can't get ROPE for as cheap. I'd gone to both Best Buy and Circuit City looking for the new RAGING BULL two-disc set, but Best Buy didn't have any more (I cringe to think how few they probably ordered of one of the greatest films of all time, at a time when the director is in line to possibly win an Oscar for THE AVIATOR). dUMB FUCKERs. Anyway, Circuit City had ONE copy, but at $22.99, not $15.99 or whatever I was willing to pay. I mean, it's probably my favorite film, but why pay more than you have to? So I'll just have to track it down somewhere else, probably Amazon.

Wrote some more reviews this afternoon. Need to review BLUESMAN to complete the column. I must admit, seeing that someone else already reviewed it at Comic Book Galaxy takes some of the impetus away. It's a great book and I want to review it for Rob, but you know, there's still a bit of that "gotta be first" thing--at least first at the site. That hardly ever happens anymore.

Worked out today, while the maintenance guy was checking a leak that left a wet spot in my hallway and soaked a foot of my wall. There was a fucking mushroom growing out of the carpet, I'm not kidding. Turns out my washer-dryer was leaking, and now there's no pad in the carpet, a loud fan going all night, and most importantly, a big hole where he cut the rotted drywall away. See, once the drywall is not dry, it's not serving its purpose.

Read a bit, and during Desperate Housewives and Boston Legal, wrote some notes on Superunknown and Mind Games. I think I keep too much in my head or start some things without seeing all the angles, so I'm trying to take more notes. I started COMEDIAN halfway through Boston Legal because it wasn't doing it for me. Both the A and B plots looked mediocre and contrived.

I'm raising Sea Monkeys. I've wanted to do this all my life, and now I'm doing it. Yay.
